More Than Me Profiles

I wrote these profiles for More Than Me’s website. They are featured on the site on a rotating basis. These are profiles of some of the girls in Liberia that receive scholarships from MTM.

Sarah  

Sarah is a playful, friendly ten-year-old who loves kickball! She has managed to maintain a positive outlook on life even in the face of rough circumstances. Sarah’s family is very poor and the six of them live in a tiny, unkempt two-room house. Her mother, Noral, wants to move the family to a better home but her and her husband both work low-wage jobs and have no extra income.

Prince

Prince is one of the boys of More Than Me. This 15-year-old has come a long way since he joined us at our very beginning! He is now in the seventh grade and working hard toward his goal of becoming a pastor. Prince loves studying the Bible both in and out of school and is always impressing his uncle with his intelligence.

Masse

Meet Masse. Masse’s mother passed away when she was young and her father brought her to live with her aunt, Bendu. Bendu supports Masse and her siblings by monitoring the generator the town uses for fishing. Bendu is sick and the family is very poor and has no extra money for education. Masse helps Bendu with the washing and other housework.

Lovetee

Meet Lovetee! This teenager’s favorite game is kickball and she adores monkeys. She loves to play and eat potatoe greens, but she also knows the importance of education and making time to study. Lovetee is very hardworking and spends a lot of her free time studying for class. Although she is only in the third grade, she is committed to learning and especially likes spelling.

Henford

Meet Henford. This second grader enjoys learning and spends much of her free time writing, reading and practicing her ABCs. She also loves to move! Whether playing hopscotch or dancing, Henford finds a way to use her energy. It’s not unusual for her to say “hello” by inviting you to join her in a dance.

Godgift

Some kids dread math class but Godgift counts it as her favorite subject.  However, this playful second grader still knows how to have fun. While not in school she can often be found enjoying a game of kickball.

Easter Family Resource Event Press Release
